Best IP Lawyers is an independent review guide that helps Australian business owners find the right intellectual property lawyer in their state or city. We produce state-by-state city guides, firm comparisons, and practical guides based on publicly available information.
This publication is not affiliated with any law firm, professional body, or industry association. No firm has paid for inclusion, placement, or favourable review.
About the Reviewers
This publication is researched and written by Tom and Anika Russo, independent IP law reviewers covering the Australian market. Their guides draw on firm websites, professional registrations (TTIPAB), industry body memberships, and publicly stated credentials and service offerings.
Review Methodology
Our guides assess IP law firms across five criteria:
- IP specialisation depth — Does the firm focus on IP law, or is it a secondary practice area?
- Breadth of IP services — Trade marks, patents, designs, copyright, enforcement, portfolio management.
- Team qualifications — TTIPAB registration, postgraduate qualifications, and professional body memberships.
- Client suitability — Which client segments the firm serves best (startups, SMEs, corporates, specific industries).
- Geographic coverage — Local presence, national reach, and international filing capability.
